Japanese Leather Motorcycle Jackets for Petite Women Riders (with Real Riders Review)

For reference, I am 163 cm, 45 kg. I usually wear XS or S –> Dainese size 40 for leather jackets, WM in Komine mesh jackets, and Size S for Degner leather jackets.

In my petite women jacket recommendations, I promised a separate article about Japanese leather motorcycle jackets for women.

The reason this article exists is simple: Japanese leather motorcycle jackets are measured and sized for Japanese body proportions — who are usually petite. If Western leather jackets always feel too long in the sleeves and too wide at the shoulders for you, a jacket designed and sized here in Japan may address these problems you thought you had to live with. But the women’s leather lineup in Japan is smaller than one would expect, and I hope to help you make the best selection!

I have not personally tested all the jackets in this list, although I did try on plenty of them in stores. Additional information comes from official brand pages, Japanese rider blogs, and owner reviews and comments — every spec, price, and comment is linked to its source. Prices were checked in July 2026 and includes Japanese consumption tax.

Short answers

These are the Japanese brand women’s leather motorcycle jackets I would check first as a petite rider: Kadoya PL-SW Lady, Kadoya EURUS-GS Lady, Degner FR20SJ-9A, Degner FR23WJ-10, Nankai RDJ-33, Komine LJ-5343, and Kushitani KL-0629Z. The surprise: two big Japanese brands make no women’s leather jacket

Before I researched this article, I assumed the biggest names in the industry would carry women’s leather. They do not!

RS Taichi — the TAICHI WOMEN’S COLLECTION is textile jackets and parkas only. Their leather jackets are sold in Euro-style unisex sizing that starts at 48/S = chest 91 cm, height 160–165 cm.

HYOD — the women’s lineup has D3O parkas, denim, and even women’s leather riding pants, but no women’s leather jacket. Their leather jackets are men’s-sized.

But the good news is other brands covered here have quite a large selection and I am sure you can find one that you like.

How I selected these jackets

• Real ladies sizing — the jacket must be offered in women’s sizes (WS/WM/WL or ladies S/M/L), not “just buy the men’s S”
• Official spec confirmation — sizes, prices, and materials come from the brand’s own product pages, linked in each entry
• Japanese rider feedback — where fit comments from real riders exist on Japanese blogs and review sites, I quote or summarize them with the source. Where they do not exist, I say so instead of pretending

Recommended Japanese leather jackets for petite women

Kadoya PL-SW Lady

• Ladies sizes: WS / WM / WL
• Price: ~¥58,300 incl. tax (Webike)
• Type: punching (perforated) leather semi-double riders for summer
• Buy if: you want real leather you can actually wear in Japanese summer, in a true ladies size
• Skip if: you need one jacket for all seasons — perforated leather is a warm-weather piece

This is the jacket with the strongest petite fit evidence I found anywhere in this research. A female rider who is 160 cm and usually wears S in regular clothing documented a full summer in the PL-SW Lady in size WS on her blog: with shoulder, elbow, back and chest protectors installed, she describes the fit as just right, and her first words riding off were “す、涼しい！” (“it’s so cool!”) — 23log.

The official product page carries 8 customer reviews at 4–5 stars, including a buyer at 160–164 cm / 50–54 kg who took the WS and called it “just right”. Kadoya is one of the very few brands anywhere offering leather in a WS size, and they also do repairs and aftercare in-house — leather you can keep for a decade.

Kadoya EURUS-GS Lady

• Ladies sizes: WS / WM / WL
• Price: ~¥60,600–63,800 incl. tax (kakaku.com / Webike)
• Type: leather single riders
• Buy if: you want the same WS/WM/WL ladies sizing as the PL-SW but in a solid three-season single jacket
• Skip if: your budget stops around ¥40,000 — Degner and Komine below cover that range

The EURUS-GS Lady is the all-season sibling in Kadoya’s women’s line. Same rare WS starting size, same K’S LEATHER workshop pedigree. I did not find individual fit reviews as detailed as the PL-SW’s, so treat the sizing as “same family, confirm your size against the chart” rather than proven.

Degner FR20SJ-9A

• Ladies sizes: S / M / L / XL
• Price: ¥35,200 incl. tax (official)
• Type: sheep leather single riders, 4 colors (black / brown / ivory / red), shoulder + elbow + back protectors
• Buy if: you want the most affordable proper ladies leather here, or sleeves that can be professionally shortened
• Skip if: you sit between sizes and hate returns — Degner cuts tight (see below)

Degner (Kyoto) has the deepest ladies leather catalog of any Japanese brand — 18+ items in the ladies leather category. I personally tried them on at the Degner flagship store in Hachioji and spent a good 2 hours just swapping around and finding the best fit. I finally bought home a sheepskin jacket (FR26SJ-15 will write a gear review about this definitely)! They also have a large calf-skin collection, so I really recommend spending time finding the ideal jacket from Degner for serious buyers.

Two things make them especially interesting for petite riders. First, the price: ¥35,200 for a protector-equipped sheep leather jacket. Second, and this is the part I would highlight: Degner offers paid in-house alterations, including sleeve shortening (from ¥12,100) and length adjustments — the alteration table is right on the product page. For petite riders, too-long sleeves are usually the number one leather jacket problem, and almost no other motorcycle brand offers this.

One comment from Japanese rider feedback: a sizing analysis with owner comments describes Degner’s leather as tight-cut overall — “デグナーの革ジャンは全体的にタイト設計” (“Degner’s leather jackets are a tight design overall”) with one size up being the safest choice — note.com. Owners on Webike also mention the arms feeling snug once protectors are in.

Degner FR23WJ-10 (leather MA-1)

• Ladies sizes: S / M / L
• Price: ¥39,600 incl. tax (official)
• Type: sheep leather MA-1 style, protectors at shoulder / elbow / back / chest
• Buy if: you want leather protection that does not look like motorcycle cosplay off the bike
• Skip if: you prefer a classic riders silhouette

An MA-1 in soft sheep leather, with a full protector set including chest — that combination is rare at this price. Trade media praised the fine, supple sheep leather and light overall feel, with a soft rib-knit collar (Motorcycle Web). For reference, the M measures bust 106 / shoulder 40 / sleeve 63 / length 59 cm (Degner online store) — check the sleeve number against a jacket you already own. It is also stocked by Baico, a women-riders-only gear shop, which I consider a good signal (Baico).

Nankai RDJ-33

• Ladies sizes: S / M / L
• Price: ¥46,200 incl. tax official, street from ~¥41,200 (kakaku.com)
• Type: cowhide double riders, ladies only
• Buy if: you want a classic double riders with a genuinely short body length
• Skip if: you want a jacket with confirmed owner reviews before spending — this one has almost none online

I want to be transparent: this is a spec-based pick. I could not find fit reviews from identifiable women riders for the RDJ-33. What sold me on including it is the official size chart: S = body length 55 cm, shoulder 38.5 cm, chest 94 cm, sleeve 57 cm (official chart). A 55 cm body length is exactly the short-jacket proportion that Japanese leather retailers recommend for riders around 150-something cm (Reccia’s ladies leather guide). Nankai also says the cut was “arranged to fit a woman’s body line”, with action pleats from shoulder to underarm and waist adjuster belts.

Komine LJ-5343

• Ladies sizes: WM / WL / WXL (plus men’s S–3XL)
• Price: ¥43,890 incl. tax official; commonly discounted to ~¥26,000–34,000 (Webike Yahoo store, WM / Amazon JP)
• Type: vintage-finish cowhide single riders, CE Level 2 shoulder/elbow + EVA back pad
• Buy if: you want the lowest realistic entry price into a ladies-size leather jacket with serious protectors
• Skip if: premium leather feel matters to you — this is a workhorse, not an heirloom

I own Komine mesh gear in WM myself, and my experience with the brand matches its reputation: unbeatable function per yen, with less polish than the big names. The LJ-5343 brings that formula to leather — CE Level 2 protectors at shoulder and elbow at a street price where most competitors give you fabric. Ladies sizes go WM / WL / WXL. Same Komine caveat as always though: the ladies sizes feel like adjusted versions of the men’s pattern rather than a ground-up women’s design, so check the chart, especially around the hips and bust.

Kushitani KL-0629Z (single jacket, ladies)

• Ladies sizes: M / L ready-made, full order available (from ¥213,400)
• Price: ¥125,400 incl. tax (official)
• Type: water-repellent Holstein cowhide single, soft pads at shoulder / elbow / back
• Buy if: you are ready to invest in one leather jacket you will wear for many years, and ready-made M fits — or you go full order
• Skip if: this is your first leather jacket and you are still figuring out what you like

Kushitani is the premium name in Japanese leather, and their ladies size chart is built around Japanese proportions — ladies S corresponds to 153–156 cm and 42–46 kg. The catch: the leather jackets themselves come ready-made only in M and L. If you are smaller, the honest path is their full-order program, where the jacket is made to your measurements. Owner feedback on Webike repeatedly highlights how light and easy to wear Kushitani leather feels compared to other brands. A female rider video impression of their leather jackets is also worth watching before deciding (aotabi × MOTOZIP, confirmed on Kushitani’s own blog).

Pair Slope DML-82La — the made-to-measure sidebar

• Ladies sizes: M / L / LL, plus size order based on the base pattern
• Price: from ¥159,500 incl. tax, made to order (official)
• Type: ladies leather short coat, hand-made in their Tokyo workshop

Pair Slope has been hand-making leather in Tokyo since 1983, and their ladies page says it directly: they prepared M and L, and for everyone else they take orders adjusting material, color, and size. There are essentially no online fit reviews — their customers get fitted in the shop, which is the whole point. If every jacket in this article has failed you, this is the ceiling: leather cut to your actual body. Budget accordingly.

What to watch out for with Japanese sizing

• Only 2–3 ladies sizes. WS/WM/WL or S/M/L is the norm. As I wrote in my petite jackets guide, some Japanese ladies lines often feel like adjusted men’s patterns with a limited size run — great if you land in the range, but still annoying nonetheless
• Japanese sizes run small and short by design. That is the appeal for petite riders — but if you are curvier in the bust or hips, check the garment measurements and read real rider feedback if you can
• Leather cuts here tend to be tight. The Degner “size up” feedback above applies more widely: Japanese leather is cut close, and protectors take up room. When in doubt between two sizes, read real rider comments in the Size Guide first
• Alterations and orders are a real option in Japan. Degner shortens sleeves in-house, Kushitani and Pair Slope do made-to-order. If you have always ridden in “almost fits”, this is the market where “actually fits” is possible
